Deadline for PTPTN loan repayments with discount until September

TEMERLOH: The deadline for the 20% discount for borrowers of the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) will remain until Sept 30, this year.

Its chairman Datuk Ismail Mohamed Said said the deadline was in accordance with the announcement by Prime Minister in the 2013 budget.

Ismail said the claims by some bloggers that the deadline for the 20% discount would end after the general election was not true.

He said the discount had nothing to do with the general election as it was a gift and an inducement for the borrowers to pay up.

“From October last year until Jan 31, this year, a total of 17,317 out of 21,289 borrowers have made full settlement amounting to RM62.11mil.

“This means the discount value amounts to RM15.5mil,” Ismail said after presenting RM250 vouchers to youths under the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) for youths programme in Dewan Kuala Krau, recently.
