Compressor Aircond Cut Off

21-May-2022
An air conditioner compressor is the component in the system that raises the temperature and pressure of the vapor refrigerant that leaves the evaporator coil. Its important that the compressor raises the pressure of the vapor refrigerant so that it creates a pressure difference, the pressure difference is needed in order for the refrigerant to flow. High pressure fluids flow towards lower pressure fluid. Basically whats happening is the compressor is raising the pressure of the refrigerant so that the refrigerant will flow to the lower pressure refrigerant in the evaporator coil.

Why does A/C compresor cut off frequently?

1. Compressor is a sealed component preventing dust and debris from damaging its moving parts. If the compressor is overheating or is worn out, this will often result in the system shutting off frequently.
2. The refrigerant in your air conditioner needs to stay at a consistent level for the system to work properly. If your refrigerant level falls, you will experience poor cooling performance and energy efficiency. This can lead to short cycling.
3. Inside your air handler is an evaporator coil. This cools the warm air that is drawn from inside your home. If you have an airflow issue, such as a clogged air filter, frost can build up on your evaporator coils. This, again, can lead to a short cycling issue.
4. Electrical problems are a common cause of short cycling. Often, there may be an issue with the electrical supply line or the capacitor could be broken or failing, but your AC system could also have an electrical issue due to the thermostat, electrical connections anywhere in the system, or the circuit boards.
5. If  your air conditioner starts then stops after only a few seconds or your air conditioner turns off after 30 seconds, then chances are there’s a problem with your run capacitor and you will need to replace the part.
